Dr. Bukhari Sillah is an Associate Professor of Economics and currently a Senior Macroeconomics Researcher at at the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), where he works in the team providing thought leadership in all matters related to economic policy and socio-economic research. Before joining IsDB, Dr. Sillah worked for seven years at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and headed the Quality and Accreditation Unit of the Department of Economics. Previously, he worked at the University of the Gambia for eight years, spending five years as Head of the Department of Economics and Management. Dr. Sillah was a founding commissioner of the Gambia Competition Commission, and he has widely published in international Journals. He is fluent in both Arabic and English and has some German basics. He has a PhD in Economics from the University of Kiel, Germany, as well as MSc in Economics and Bachelor of Business Administration from the International Islamic University, Malaysia. His research interests include analysis of conventional banking and financial institutions, economic growth, monetary economics, macro-econometric analysis, and Islamic economics and finance.
